(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home1/silviap3/public_html/adventurespottravel/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114Let me let you in on a little secret…I used to HATE red lipstick! I’m an earth sign and not even knowing this, when I was younger I always used nudes and earth tones on my lips and eyes. I rarely even wore red clothing, I feared stares and did not want to call attention to myself. It wasn’t until I took a personal development training where I was required to do something that “got me out of my comfort zone” that, in my mind, wearing a red dress and red lipstick was REALLY stretching my limits. I laugh now, but for me that was a HUGE stretch.

Others did not see it that way. I got many compliments from people and I was told red looked really good on me. Funny how sometimes the lens though which others see us, and that reassurance they give us, changes our perspective about ourselves sometimes in more ways than one.

Returning briefly to high school, I did wear a red dress and a red lipstick for my Winter formal. The dress, a velvet red halter dress, knee length. The lip color, Viva Glam by MAC. It was probably the very first edition because it was a Matte color which for a while they no longer carried however, I think it is back and you can find it online. Since 1994, it has evolved and they have 2 additional versions of Viva Glam.

Although MAC is a very sought out brand, my lip stick of choice is actually not made by MAC and doesn’t come with that price tag AT ALL. Now hear me out, I worked at a department store and had access to many known brands of make up. I even loved a red lipstick by Estée Lauder once that was gorgeous. The problem with these colors was that they easily ran and lasted picture perfect for the good of however many minutes I had it on until I took a sip of water or whatever beverage of choice I had at the moment. Often times I left my mark on cups, glasses and even on my on loved ones when I would reach over to give them a peck on the cheek.

THE ONLY RED LIPSTICK I think you’ll need is Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink in #20 Pioneer. It is, BY FAR my favorite lipstick. I have gotten MANY compliments when I wear it and I only apply it ONCE. It stays on all day, even after I eat or drink and transfer is MINIMAL if at all. I usually keep it in my purse when I do wear it in case I would need to touch up, and the times I have touched up have been rare. It costs anywhere from about $9.98-$9.99 which is less than half of the above stated brand. I do apply a liner when I use it, so when I want to keep it bright, I use MAC’s lipliner in Brick. When I want to give it a darker look, I line it with MAC lipliner in Burgundy, which is my favorite combo.

I would LOVE to hear about your favorite colors, brands and combos. Which ones do you recommend?
